Totton Squash is a sub-club at West Totton Community Centre run by a committee of regular squash players. The squash club’s primary goal is raising the profile of squash and attracting players of all ages for social and competitive squash events. Totton squash club is affiliated with England squash, so all members also become England squash members, which entitles them to on-court personal accident insurance and to participate in tournaments and County squash leagues. For the competitive players, there is the Totton Open Graded tournament. The 2005 and 2007 tournaments were big successes and will hopefully be an annual fixture on the England squash open graded tournament calendar. An annual Closed club championship will be held at the start of each League season as of September 2008, in addition to the ever-popular one-day summer and winter social tournaments(arranged in June and December respectively). There are a number of squash coaches at Totton who range from Level 0 to Level 3. Ideal for beginners and juniors as well as experienced players who feel their game will benefit from coaching. There is a weekly Club night, which is where one has the opportunity to meet other club members, play games, and possibly get some tips. The club has a budding junior section with three junior teams participating in the Hampshire squash leagues. For the more competitive players, there are 4 men’s teams in the Hampshire Leagues in Division 1, 2, 4 and 5, which should cater for a broad range of squash player. |
